That process lives in the MEC Design Studio — a dedicated in-house department of architects, designers and visualisation specialists who are the creative and technical engine behind every project MECANCO undertakes.
Every concept begins with design exploration, engineering evaluation, visual simulation and technical detailing. Through advanced design workflows and project-specific visualisation techniques, our team transforms ideas into buildable, structurally validated solutions.
The MEC Design Studio is not a support function. It is the starting point of everything we build.
Every MECANCO structure begins as an idea in our studio — and it leaves as a constructable reality, designed to the last detail before the first bolt is tightened.
The MEC Design Studio
The MEC Design Studio is a dedicated team of architects and designers who work exclusively on the design conceptualisation, visualisation and technical drawing process for every MECANCO project — from the smallest residential awning installation to large-scale tensile membrane structures and infrastructural roofing of stadium-level complexity.
Once the design process is complete and approved, the project is formally handed over to our engineering team for structural analysis, load calculations and compliance verification — ensuring a seamless, disciplined transition from creative concept to constructable reality.
From Raw Site To Final Render
The MEC Design Studio operates with a structured design workflow — moving from raw site understanding to concept exploration, augmented visualisation, workshop detailing and technology-led production documentation.
Site Understanding & Raw Conditions
Every design brief begins with a thorough understanding of the site — its dimensions, structural conditions, existing services, landscape elements, orientation and any constraints specific to the location.
All of these are absorbed into the design process from the very beginning, ensuring that the design responds to the reality of the site rather than an idealised version of it.
Concept Development & Multiple Options
The MEC Design Studio does not present a single solution. We believe that great design emerges from exploration — and so we consistently develop multiple design options for every brief.
Where a client's architect has a specific design language they wish to follow, our studio works within that language — adapting our solutions to complement and extend the architect's vision.
Where no specific direction is provided, we draw from our extensive design library — or build an entirely new design from scratch, conceived specifically for that project and that client.
Visualisation & Augmented Site Rendering
This is where the MEC Design Studio's capability is most immediately visible to the client. Using advanced software tools — including AI-powered visualisation and rendering platforms — our team produces photorealistic renders of every proposed design.
These renders are superimposed directly onto actual site photographs, creating an augmented reality presentation that shows the client exactly how their structure will look, at true scale, in their actual environment.
This is not artistic impression. This is a constructable, scaled, material-accurate visualisation — presented with the realism of a finished installation.
Workshop Detailing & Production Documentation
Once a design is approved, the MEC Design Studio transitions the project into full workshop detailing — producing precise, fabrication-ready drawings for every component of the structure.

- Membrane production drawings — panel layouts, cutting patterns, cable pocket details and tensioning specifications
- Laser-cut component drawings — precision profiles for custom connectors, brackets and structural terminals
